Starfire by irving-zero Starfire by irving-zero
I was on the second season of Young Justice when I saw Tim Drake and Beastboy, then I thought, "oh come on there has to be Starfire." There's even Wondergirl and Blue Beetle, it's practically Titans. The show's all good with the kickass action scenes and brilliant animation but I still like the Teen Titans better. You know, the one with the Puffy Amiyumi intro. Also, I can't believe they took out Kid Flash, he was so funny!

@irving-zero...

1. Young Justice was a really good super-hero series; a very serious themed with deep plots and drama, and chock full of references to DC Comics' history & genres.

2. It was very sad to see it cancelled after only two seasons, but such is the nature when a series is too "smart" for the general audience.

3. My kids and I spent many an episode watching them together, with me pausing it now & then to relate some of the references made to the older comic history of my youth and generations before. It was great to be able to spend time over something that spans generations.

4. As to why no Starfire in Young Justice, it was because the Teen Titans, Go! comedy/slice-of-life series was already in the works, so the licensing between the two could not be wrangled (thus why Dick Grayson had to become Nightwing pretty quick too). I also enjoyed the original Teen Titans action-adventure series as well, but it was a different style than Young Justice, so comparing the two is not really proper.

5. Innocent & pure-hearted Starfire is the best Starfire. I like your depiction of the Hynden Walch Starfire. I utterly detest the DCnU Starfire, of "I'm bored, let's have sex or go kill something."

6. As for why Kid Flash died in Young Justice season #2 finale, it had to happen. With major comic events such as Alien Invasion, there are invariably casualties; and since both Barry Allen and Bart Allen are currently the active Flashes in DC Comics, so it left Wally West as the "expendable" member of the Flash Family :( .

As far as I know Young Justice has a very large audience following. IMO it was a really bad decision since (I think) that it has the depth and likability of Avatar Aang. It was also the first series that I watched that actually cared for the other superheroes that appear in them, that they at least gave us a bit of their backstory and made them VERY significant to the plot. And yeah comparing it to teen titans is quite inappropriate since they tackle their conflicts and other things very differently. I've watched teen titans go! and wow did they step up the comedy. as in there's always ZERO plot and just plain hilarity. I think that's still okay coz they already had their run on their stories back on the previous teen titans show. I actually got into DCU animated series (other than batman TAS) because of starfire, that she replaced BATMAN as my favorite DCU character. It was only after teen titans series that I read her backstory in the comics, and, wow, did they make a MAJOR improvement in the cartoon (like from zero personality to an utterly irresistably cute and interesting character). And yeah it's just when I read into more of the Flash backstory that I understood the circumstances with kid flash. Or it's just a trend to kill off cool characters, coz it's pretty common even in other cartoons and anime?

AWESOME. A brilliant rendition of a cool character and I'm SO glad you chose THIS version of Starfire and not the current comic one.

Kudos.

Eh I am quite happy about the lack of the classic 80s Titans in YJ, they've had their own show to gain exposure, I was even a bit apprehensive about Beast Boy appearing at first cause of that. DC has a MASSIVE number of teenage hero's. YJ is the first time characters like Superboy, Cassie Wonder Girl, Miss Martian, Bart Allen and the like have been animated and I like spreading the exposure.

As for which show is better I have to say Young Justice just cause it doesn't have any damn reset buttons at the end of every arc and I am someone who really appriciates strong continuity and character development. Also I pretty much universally disliked the non-arc episodes in TT outside of like maybe 5 or 6 expections.

I agree on the character development and the additional exposure of the other teen superheroes in YJ. In fact, that is its main strength IMO. Furthermore I think it even deeply highlighted some underexposed leaguers (in other similar shows like JLA) like red tornado and canary, which is very nice. It's just a matter of preference actually. I'm not saying one show is better than the other, just that I prefer teen titans more because it has more fun parts to it, and it has starfire. ^^

Absolutely love the face you drew for her. That smile fits her to a T, and your coloring is fantastic.

All around great work.

Yes I have to agree with you on "...Teen Titans better (even though I don't watch it anymore)."; but I love how you did Starfire- she's my first favourite character from Teen Titans.
